About

My name is Karen Russell and I am the founder of Sussex Dyslexia Tutoring. I am a mum of three children, one of whom I home educate, and have a love of the sea. I sea swim at least three times per week. If I am not in the classroom planning or tutoring I am often at the beach!

I am a SpLD level 5 qualified dyslexia specialist practitioner and taught in one of the leading specialist dyslexic schools in Surrey before opening Sussex Dyslexia Tutoring in 2016.

As a parent myself I understand the worries and frustrations you are feeling right now around your child's education. My aim is to reach out to more children requiring specialist intervention or a little additional help.

All my lessons are planned specifically around each child's needs and interests and your child will succeed with the correct interventions and the implementation of a specific learning programme. Each tutor session is fun, creative, multi-sensory and all learning is supported through interactive games and activities. Each child is different and not every child who may need learning support displays the same needs so planning an individual learning programme is key to getting the best out of each child.

Most children walk into their first session feeling nervous and worried about doing 'extra' lessons but all are eager to come back and have more fun. Within a short space of time each child's confidence starts to grow and self esteem returns. You get the best out of each child when they are relaxed and happy in their learning environment.

I work with children between 7 and 16 years old, supporting most of my students through to their GCSE's.
